And although the Drudge Report has been guilty of some rumormongering, there is no evidence that Matt Drudge--or any other online journalist--has ever made up a story out of whole cloth, like The New Republics StephenGlass.
Colin Murdock and Roland Edge have been shaky in defence, StephenGlass' injury woes continue to dog him, while Stephen Dobbie and Morten Hyldegard spent long spells on the bench, before the Danish keeper eventually moved to Luton.
Barely a year later, after the StephenGlass fiasco (see "Forbes smokes out fake New Republic story on hackers, " Forbes Digital Tool, May 11), the online distribution of the Starr Report, and the proliferation of serious news outlets on the web, only the most undesirable demographic--the hopelessly uninformed--would dispute the legitimacy and power of online media.
