Stellarator

  • abstract: A stellarator is a device used to confine a hot plasma with magnetic fields in order to sustain a controlled nuclear fusion reaction. It is one of the earliest controlled fusion devices, first invented by Lyman Spitzer in 1950 and built the next year at what later became the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory.

stellarator /ˈstɛləˌreɪtə/

  • 1.

双语例句

  • A stellarator therefore needs only one magnetic field to manage the plasma, and can be run indefinitely rather than just for a few minutes.

    由于需要一个磁场控制等离子体所以,其运行的时间可以无限长,不仅仅几十分钟。
