abstract:The SoFFin (Sonderfonds Finanzmarktstabilisierung - Special Financial Market Stabilization Funds) is a program of the German government with the purpose to stabilize and restore confidence in the financial system. It was created in the middle of the Financial crisis of 2007–2010 on October 17, 2008 by the German Parliament and enacted on October 20, 2008.
Concerns have grown about the capitalization of the German lender Commerzbank have dropped sharply and the German Finance Minister said they may need to activate the Soffin bank rescue fund.
