Prof Reiss, who is also a Church of England priest, said it should be taught "partly out of respect for those pupils who are gay and partly to prepare all pupils for today's world, in which sexualorientationissues are never out of the news".
Any person who enters into therapy to deal with issues of sexualorientation has a right to expect that such therapy will take place in a professionally neutral environment, without any social bias.
The EHRC was formed in 2006 when the previous Commission for Racial Equality expanded to cover issues of age, religious beliefs, sexualorientation, and the promotion of human rights.
