This deal also directly contradicts the objectives of SEMATECH, the semiconductor manufacturing technology consortium created to enhance and strengthen U.S. companies involved in the semiconductor industry.
Zerhouni compares it to Sematech, the nonprofit formed by U.S. semiconductor companies in 1986 to help them create manufacturing standards to eliminate waste and compete with Japan.
The other volunteers on the team include representatives of Veridian, the Internet Operators Group (IOPS.org), Sematech and the SANS Institute, which represents 62, 000 systems administrators and security professionals.
