Three months ago, Toshiba president Sato Fumio unveiled the SDSuper Density Disc, which is no bigger than a music CD but packs a double punch: it can contain two full-length films dubbed in up to five languages and subtitled in eight more.
Sony and partner Phillips offered the MMCD (Multi-Media Compact Disc) format while the SD(Super Density) format was backed by Toshiba and Matsushita, among others.
