Kostritzky burnished her reputation for having a gift with children at the School of American Ballet, the in-house school for the New York City Ballet, where she taught more than 300 students in 18 years.
So rather than wait for the perfect candidates to walk through the door, companies have decided to school their in-house staff or train new hires who may lack the exact skills they were looking for.
It created an Innovation Design Lab as an in-house school for promising designers, and it sends people on internships in industries as diverse as fashion and cosmetics to gain new ways of thinking.
