abstract:Sāsān (Middle Iranian > Persian ساسان, also known as Sassan), considered the eponymous ancestor of the Sasanians, was "a great warrior and hunter" and a Zoroastrian high priest in Fars and living sometime near the fall of the Arsacid Empire.
