abstract:The sablefish, Anoplopoma fimbria, is one of two members of the fish family Anoplopomatidae and the only species in the Anoplopoma genus. In English, common names for it include sable (USA), black cod (USA, UK, Canada), blue cod (UK), bluefish (UK), candlefish (UK), coal cod (UK), coalfish (Canada), beshow and skil(fish) (Canada), although many of these names also refer to other, unrelated, species.
And people are gonna have to learn about sablefish - which is a beautiful substitute for it, but yet it's not commonly known."

The first course of the macrobiotic meal was baby Cos lettuce salad with coconut vinaigrette, followed by miso-marinated sablefish, with seasonal fruit salad and sorbet for dessert.
The menu is comprised of regional specialties: imagine a seared Alaskan scallop with cauliflower risotto and sherry emulsion or pan seared brioche crusted sablefish, a very popular fish in the BC area.
