The priority for the new programme of action is to build strong economies that can withstand external shocks.

The prize rewards the outstanding efforts of individuals, institutions, organisations or other entities engaged in activities on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), within a focus on one or more of the Priority Action Areas of the Global Action Programme on ESDA. Each entrant must be nominated: no personal applications are accepted.
