Beckford smashed the ball against the bar from a central position, only for the ball to bounce down and clear of the goal without having been ruled to have gone over the line.
At most PGA Tour events under similar circumstances, players would be allowed to mark their ball's position in the fairway, clean it off and replace it on the same spot, without penalty.
