Xuan Zang's pilgrimageto India for Buddhist scriptures in the 7th Century was the inspiration for the novel JourneytotheWest and popular television series Monkey.
One of them, the Hsuan Tsang Temple, houses the remains of the great itinerant monk Hsuan Tsang, immortalized in the 16th-century Chinese novel JourneytotheWest, who went on a 16-year pilgrimageto India.
