abstract:Philip Jackson (24 September 1802, Durham-1879) was a British Royal Navy lieutenant, who laid out the city plan (the Jackson Plan) for Singapore in 1822. He was a key person in Raffles plans for the settlement.
Lined with Doric columns, its centerpiece is a 9-foot bronze sculpture of a seven-man bomber crew returning from a mission cast by PhilipJackson, whose work includes a monument to the late Queen Mother.
