ThePewHealthGroupanalyzed the numbers in the report, the second-ever issuedby FDA, which showed a boostof 6.7 percent, from 28.8 million pounds in 2009 to 30.6 million pounds in 2010.
"We don't have any system in place for authenticating drugs in the U.S., " said Allan Coukell, director of medical programs at the PewHealthGroup, who co-wrote a report last year on counterfeit and adulterated drugs.
