abstract:Perkinsus is a genus of protists in the phylum Perkinsozoa. The genus was erected in 1978 to better treat its type species, Perkinsus marinus, known formerly as Dermocystidium marinum.
Perkinsus trophozoites predominantly focusedin the clamconnective tissue, and frequently found in gill, mantle and digestedgland, lessin adductor muscle and efferent siphon, no found in podium.
