Initial testing at the PC4 began recently when researchers used a solvent called monoethanolamine (MEA) to capture CO2 from a slipstream of flue gas from the plant.
PC4 is part of the National Carbon Capture Center founded by the Department of Energy and Southern Company in 2009 and headquartered near the Gaston plant in Wilsonville, Alabama.
