Norwich continued to threaten and the hosts felt aggravated for not being awarded a penalty when Cardiff full-back Paul Quinn brought down Norwich striker Grant Holt in the penalty area.
Norwich only came to life in first-half injury-time when Paul McVeigh fired in a shot which Marlon Beresford saved with his feet and Gary Holt shot over from the rebound.
