GOING anywhere in Guangzhou can be an experience. The people, languages and buildings are all fascinating. Other than Hong Kong, this is the only city in China where I've spent much time. And as I've been here only eight months I'm not exactly qualified to make sweeping statements about the city or its culture. That said, I will tell you that I like almost everything about this place. And I much prefer Guangzhou to Hong Kong because the people are friendlier and there is more traditional architecture.
