From 1997 to 2000, Ms. Gottemoeller worked at the U.S. Department of Energy, serving as Director of the Office of Non-Proliferation and National Security from 1997 to 1999, as Assistant Secretary for Non-Proliferation and National Security from 1999 to 2000, and as Deputy Under Secretary for Nuclear Security and Acting Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Non-Proliferation in 2000.
At the event, officials from the Departments of Transportation, Labor, Energy, Education, and Agriculture, as well as from the Office of Personnel Management, National Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency and Corporation for National and Community Service, met with leaders of STEM mentoring organizations and members of the public.
