A final word of advice when trying out LILO for the first time: I found it a lot safer to work out my LILO configuration using a floppy boot disk rather than my hard disk.

This is my favorite method when there are large Numbers of files to copy: install a second hard drive, then boot Knoppix, then copy files from the old disk to the new disk.
