The station would be joined to the existing city centre railway station via a pedestrian link, possibly with moving walkways to make the transfer quicker.
"We already have a functional link running in the lab, and we are aggressively moving to higher bandwidths, " said Mario Paniccia, director of Intel's Photonics Technology Lab.
