abstract:Motola is a 45-year old female Asian Elephant in Thailand who came to worldwide attention after being injured in 1999 by a landmine while working in a logging camp near the Burmese border. The mine mangled the animal's left front foot and leg, and the foot was amputated shortly after the accident.
