Earlier this month, the glass master's home town of Tacoma, Washington, a 30-minute drive from the city, honoured Mr Chihuly by opening a museum dedicated to contemporary glass art.
He sketched his own directions for the watch, which included a blue-enamel JWP monogram on the back case with hour, minute and second displays beneath the rock crystal glass.
