It is pointed out that the phenomenological method urban design pays particular attention to the citizens' everyday life in the city, and focuses on the problems such as the integral and continuous characters the city forms, city features and identification, and shaping of open space. Because of its "minimum intervention" principle and "microscopic control" approach, it is particularly applicable to the redevelopment of old city with high building density, large population and complex urban texture, and the construction of ecological urban green space system and urban open space.
