What Ramezani found was that companies that are consistently in the third quartile of growth--stalwarts like Wal-Mart, AutoZone and Intel--had stocks that far outperformed their faster-growing cohorts in the fourth quartile, such as Merisel, Limited and Toys "R" Us.
