The Mercedes B-Class EV, on sale in early in 2014, reflects the view of senior Mercedes executives that most U.S. consumers who will buy electric cars will use them for limited purposes, such as short daily commutes, and rely on larger, conventional vehicles or plug-in hybrids for longer trips.
