Previously, recruits to the profession did a one-year Masterscourse at a university, provided they had a PGCE (post-graduate certificate of education) plus two years of teaching experience.
One student, Razi Farooqui, told the BBC on Tuesday that he was unable to attend his masterscourse at Oxford University because his visa had still not been processed - despite being submitted in July.
