As for the erroneous report about MANPADS, it is simply not accurate that 20, 000 shoulder-fired weapons are missing, when 20, 000 is the number of weapons that we have assessed the Qaddafi regime may have acquired over the last 40 years.
However, it is certainly true, as we have been talking about quite openly for weeks, if not months, and as Ben Rhodes, the Deputy National Security Advisor, briefed on extensively in New York at the United Nations, the issue of conventional weapons, including MANPADS, in Libya.
