In the early 1980s, Al was an active participant and made meaningful contributions on a safety panel that then FAA Administrator Lynn Helms asked me to form.
Mr Lynn replied that they asked the necessary questions, but that asking questions relating to the negotiations and procedures of such a decision were beyond his organisation's remit.
