The sudden death of 46-year-old Gao Xiumin, the sickness-resulted death of 42-year-old Fubiao, and especially the death from overwork of 36-year-old Heyong, a professor for doctor-degree-pursuing students in Zhejiang University, bring us a serious subject to face: life cannot be overdrawn. Competition is challenge, but the purpose to meet challenge is to live better; if competition endangers life, success in competition is no different from failure in another sense. The recently amended “Regulations for Primary and Secondary Students” in Shanghai added “to value life” into its contents, which symbolizes a scientific and reasonable value.
