The Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf are slowly putting cars on the road, mostly in California, as the companies ramp up production and start delivering to their patient customers.
This transition is not about how many electric cars an automaker has on the road (Nissan will likely hold the pole position for a while with its all-electric Leaf).
