abstract:John Ging (born 1965) is an Irish national and former officer in the Irish Army who served as head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip from 2006 to 2011. As head of the United Nations' 10,000 employee operation there, he became a sought-after commentator by the media and an information source for foreign governments during Israel's 2008-2009 offensive in Gaza.
Also on Tuesday, an artillery shell struck inside a second U.N. school in the same town, but the boys' prep school was empty at the time, UNRWA director JohnGing said.
JohnGing, director of operations in Gaza for the UN relief agency Unrwa, told the BBC that delivering water was the first priority, and he called on Israel to open its border crossings with the enclave.
