abstract:Joseph Joshua "Joe" Powell (1870Spartacus Educational profile – 29 November 1896) was an English footballer who was captain of Woolwich Arsenal in their first season of League football. He is also notable for being one of the few footballers to die as a result of an injury incurred whilst playing.
For instance, O'Connell and Simon Shaw in the second row is a possible one, but I'm not sure we'll see Saturday's back row of Joe Worsley, Martyn Williams and Andy Powell in the first Test - it doesn't look right to me.
England's Joe Worsley could make the plane and Wales' Andy Powell, Ireland's Alan Quinlan, the Scottish pair of Alasdair Strokosch and Allister Hogg and England's Tom Rees can all have a case made for them.
Joe will be joined on Detaille Island by fellow Neath carpenter Mike Powell, while Kath's boss at Port Lockroy has been learning her trade at the post office in Abergavenny.
