Halas worked with her Rice colleague, bioengineer JenniferWest, and they found that they could inject nanoshells into mice with cancer and get the particles to accumulate around the tumor.
"The kids come in and read stories to Bailey and other therapy dogs for about 15 or 20 minutes at a time, " says Wilmoth, who was interviewed by iReporter Jennifer Sias at the West Virginia Book Festival.
The story is straightforward enough: Benjamin (Michael Angarano), a lonely teen-ager being home-schooled by his poor single mother (Jennifer Coolidge) in a dome-shaped house somewhere west of the Rockies, salves his soul by writing and illustrating whacked-out science-fiction fantasies.
