“Medium well, please.” While they slowly roasted the marshmallows, Jen continued, “Our mom loved these things. When we were kids, anytime something special or exciting happened we would celebrate with s’mores.” Charlie pulled her perfectly browned marshmallow out of the fire and Wes had successfully browned Jen's and charred his just like he liked it. While they all made their s’mores Jen added, “School awards, good grades, thunderstorms—she loved storms—successful dinner experiments, any excuse she could think of she'd bring us together to make s’mores in honor of the special occasion.”
