abstract:Ian Alexander McCafferty (born 1 July 1956) is a British economist, currently serving on the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). He joined in September 2012, following a time as Chief Economic Adviser to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).
IanMcCafferty, a BOE rate-setter, echoed some Fed officials in arguing last week that companies and households may be holding back spending because of continued uncertainty about the future.
"This measure will help support confidence, but we need to recognise that its impact on near term growth prospects is likely to be relatively modest, " said IanMcCafferty, the CBI's chief economic adviser.
