The soft green eyes squinted as she concentrated on her shoes. Her chubby, little fingers gripped the ends of the laces tightly as if they were going to slither away from her. Her nose crinkled in frustration and she looked up at her mother s long honey locks of hair and sun-kissed tan. She saw that same shade of green eyes that were focused on the road ahead of them, and wondered if she would ever be like her. As she lingered in this reverie, a sharp ringing of a phone broke her dream-like state and she pushed her bangs back to focus again on her task.
