A sharp buzzing noise fills Everette's ears as he sits up, rubbing the sleep from his groggy eyes. Hands fluttering blindly, he grabs the cell phone and turns off the alarm. Standing up, he stretches, joints creaking in his neck. Looking around, Everette notices that he had slept near a little stream, deep in a patch of trees. The stream trickles and burbles as it flows. Walking over, Everette stoops and sloshes water into his mouth with his hand. Around him, the forest is alive with life, birds chirping in thick, brown trees, squirrels chattering in shrubs.
