Optimus was fooled, his leader was never what he seemed and their cause was ultimately one giving in to the cruel seemingly inevitable lies and destruction of the dominating technology.
He seems distracted, though, and no wonder, for his wife, recently injured in a boating accident, lies in a hospital, sunk in a coma from which, he is told, she will never wake.
