“Don't touch me,” she said softly, her voice just a whisper in the brisk night breeze. She shook with uncontrollable tremors as the young man inched slowly forward until the sight of her pain and torture was too much for the stranger to bear. He halted his advance, kneeling uncomfortably in front of Alez and staring into her golden gaze. She did not glance away from his sapphire eyes but instead felt her tumbling mind slow to a steady throb as her thunderous heart pounded between her ribs in uncertainty and her rapid pulse dulled in pace. A hazy fog glazed over her being, her body going numb with a tingling sensation. Alez closed her eyes, giving all of her senses over to the peaceful state of mind engulfing her.
