I'm not a big fan of hospital food. In fact, I detest the stuff. But I couldn't bear being away from Mari long enough to go out to eat. Or even to go home to eat. Instead, Jasper and I resigned ourselves to bland, tasteless hospital food. There was burgers, cottage pie, pizza and what looked like pasta but I couldn't be sure. I went with the vegetarian pizza and fries whilst Jasper got a hamburger and fries. The cafeteria was filled with young doctors and nurses and other patient's visitors but despite that, it was relatively quiet and morbid. You couldn't forget the fact that we were in a hospital. By looking at Jasper, I could tell that he hadn't slept properly in days, and I'm sure I looked the same. The only difference being that I could hide it with makeup, he couldn't.
