The hospital said that havinganoperation can be "nerve-wracking for young patients" and wearing an ill-fitting, uncomfortable hospital gown "does little to ease their apprehension".
Psychologist Linda Papadopoulos said the growth may be linked to the fact that people who have had cosmetic surgery can reassure their partners if they too are considering havinganoperation.
