Strangely absent from the list of issues being hashed out by NFL Owners and Players in this long-running labor dispute is perhaps the most important issue of all: revenue sharing among Owners.
Aside from the relative ease with which attackers guess passwords, once they have stolen the list of usernames and hashed ( a one-way algorithm used to hide data) passwords, the attacker just checks a dictionary of hashed words against the hashed passwords to find matches.
Now these companies will compare their lists to the Facebook list and try to match people up by their email addresses and phone numbers (all in a hashed and private way that does not involve an information exchange, says Facebook) so that similar targeting can happen with Facebook ads.
