Stonework on the building was damaged by a 1977 sand-blasting which, while it turned a black building white, also took off the limestone's protective facing, swiftly turning it grey again.
Even more geriatric than the train is the wood-framed building that houses the Hastings Mill Store Museum, located across the city in the neighbourhood of Point Grey.
