abstract:Great Railway Journeys, originally titled Great Railway Journeys of the World, is a recurring series of travel documentaries produced by BBC Television. The premise of each programme is that the presenter, typically a well-known figure from the arts or media, would make a journey by train, usually through a country or to a destination to which they had a personal connection.
But whereas Portillo has managed to carve a niche for himself presenting several series of Great British RailwayJourneys, David Jones has to rely on twitter to share his experiences.
In 2011 the horse trams celebrated their 135th anniversary and featured in television programmes in Germany, Japan and the Netherlands as well as starring in Michael Portillo's BBC show Great British RailwayJourneys.
