abstract:The Great Northern Railway is a narrow gauge railway line in Queensland, Australia. The line stretches nearly 1,000 kilometres linking the port city of Townsville, Australia to the mining town of Mt Isa in north-west Queensland.
King's Cross, oneofthe mostfamous train stations in London, was built for the GreatNorthernRailway to serve Yorkshire, the north -east ofEnglandandScotland.
Mr Gwynne said the train was the idea of Walter Leith, General Passenger Supt of the GreatNorthernRailway, whose story has since been erased from all popular history of the service.
