In May, the FCC received a complaint from Electronic Privacy Information Center, a privacy advocacy group, asking it to investigate whether Google violated federal communications law designed to prevent electronic eavesdropping.
Ari Schwartz, a spokesman for the Center for Democracy and Technology, agrees that Google's respect for privacy will hinge on how it uses the data from new services like DoubleClick.
