abstract:George Thompson was the author of a two-volume travelogue describing Travels and Adventures in South Africa in the years 1823–24. He had arrived at the Cape Colony in about 1818 and became a successful merchant in Cape Town.
His career finished in tragic fashion in 1953 when he broke his leg in a collision with Preston goalkeeper GeorgeThompson and he eventually had to have the leg amputated.
"I think we're going to really have a problem here in fulfilling what Tommy Thompson promised, what George Bush promised, " said Arthur Caplan, a bioethicist at the University of Pennsylvania.
