abstract:The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (German: Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung; Abbreviation: FES) is a German political foundation associated with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), yet independent of it. Established in 1925 as the political legacy of Friedrich Ebert, Germany's first Democratically elected President, it is the largest and oldest of the German party-associated foundations.
At least two German NGOs - the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in St Petersburg and the FriedrichEbertFoundation (FES) in Moscow - were among those searched.
However, a study published in 2011 by the FriedrichEbertFoundation suggests that "widespread" racist and anti-Muslim attitudes in Europe are no less common in Germany than in countries such as France, Italy or the Netherlands.
