abstract:Freshwater West (also known as Fresh West) is a beach near Castlemartin, Pembrokeshire in West Wales. It lies along the B4319 road, near Castlemartin range and is part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The jury also heard evidence suggesting that civilians who may have been relaxing at nearby FreshwaterWest beach, 1.6 miles (2.5km) to the north west, were also at risk of being hit.
Other soldiers on similar live fire exercises were also probably unwittingly shot at, and FreshwaterWest beach, 1.6 miles (2.5km) north west of where the machine gun was placed, was also within the same potentially deadly area.
